The Journey
My name is Deja Leflore, and I am originally from Carthage, Mississippi, but currently live in Brandon. I am a junior at Northwest Rankin High School and an all-A student who is actively involved in several organizations, including BETA Club, National Honor Society, Student Government Association, Northwest Rankin Business Academy, DECA, and Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy. I also participate in school-sponsored service events, such as assisting with campus beautification efforts and helping host events for students with special needs.
Beyond school, I am deeply committed to serving my community and have completed more than 230 volunteer hours during my first two years of high school. My volunteer experiences include assisting children with learning exhibits and summer camps at the Mississippi Children’s Museum, participating in needs drives to support children and families through Canopy Children’s Solutions, and feeding the homeless with my church family. I am also a member of Youth Leadership Rankin Class of 2026-2027 through my local Chamber of Commerce, where I have the opportunity to learn more about local and state government. My career goal is to become a defense attorney, which has inspired my interest in studying Political Science and English in college.
